Gambian swimmers excel at 16th Africa Aquatics Swimming Championships in Angola

Gambia Aquatics proudly celebrates the achievements of two of its top swimmers, Aminata Nia-Maria Barrow and Ousman Jobe, who represented The Gambia with distinction at the 16th Africa Aquatics Swimming Championships held in Luanda, Angola from 30 April to 4 May 2024.

Aminata Nia-Maria Barrow Sets New National Record

Aminata Nia-Maria Barrow delivered one of the standout performances of the championships by setting a new national record in the 200m Individual Medley with a time of 2:25.67 minutes. Her exceptional swim highlights her versatility and determination, and marks another important milestone for women’s swimming in The Gambia.

Ousman Jobe Achieves Personal Bests

Ousman Jobe also impressed at the championships, recording personal bests in two sprint events:

  • 50m Butterfly28.94 seconds

  • 50m Freestyle27.27 seconds

These results reflect Ousman’s continued progress and commitment to reaching new heights in his swimming career.

These performances are a testament to the growing strength of Gambian swimming on the continental stage. Both athletes have made the nation proud, setting new standards and inspiring the next generation of swimmers.
